Additional information

Moresby Parks, Moresby, Cumbria

The village of Moresby Parks, Moresby, Cumbria (previously Cumberland) is located in the civil and ecclesiastical parish (Church of England) of Moresby. It is located a short distance to the north of Whitehaven.

The village war memorial seen in the above photograph commemorates the war dead of both World Wars. Originally, this memorial was located inside St Bridget's (Church of England) Mission Church at Moresby Parks. The Mission Church was deconsecrated and demolished in 2008 and early in the following year the war memorial was moved to St Mark's Methodist Chapel, the one remaining place of worship at Moresby Parks.

The Moresby Parks War Memorial commemorates a number of the war dead that have not been remembered on the civic war memorial for Parton & Moresby or the main parish memorial of St Bridget's, Moresby. It includes casualties from the nearby hamlet of Scilly Banks.
