Discussions on all aspects of the Second World War

Having researched the Battle of Normandy I have known about the 'Operation Tiger' casualties for some years. As you have rightly identified, Catherine, the whole episode - and those who died - tends to be overlooked. It was largely kept under wraps for many years. Because it was largely overlooked at the time - and for many years afterwards - those who lost their lives are often referred to as 'The Forgotten Dead'. The actual numbers who died may well have been higher than the officially declared figure.
