Sergeant (Wireless Operator / Air Gunner) Joseph Crawford, Service No 648647, 113 Squadron RAF died, aged 19, on 9 December 1940. At the time he was on active service somewhere in the Middle East. His was just one life among many lost during WW2, and the reason why still appears to be shrouded in mystery.
