The above photograph shows the RAF Squadronaires playing a 'Glenn Miller celebration' at the Whitehaven Festival, Cumbria on Sunday 19 June 2011. At the time this photograph ws playing the 'Squadronaires' were performing 'In the Mood'.

The RAF Squadronairws tribute to Glenn Miller and other 'Big Bands' of the Second World War years took place immediately after a 'Freedom Parade' which involved armed forces veterans, currently serving members of the armed forces and local cadets. H.M. Forces were awarded the 'Freedom of the Borough of Copeland' on 27 June 2010. This was the first time that the armed forces had united to assert their right to "... march through the streets of Copeland with their bayonets fixed, drums beating and bands playing."
