I'll join in and send my very best wishes to you all - may the skies be a little less harsh on Britain and France, so that the island will no longer be cut off from the continent, and I am also hoping for new treasures to appear on this blog all year round!

Whether your Christmas is a 'White Christmas' in the snow, underneath the sunny skies of the Mediterranean or elsewhere in the world may I also wish everyone a Happy Christmas and a Happy New Year.

If Peter will excuse my French: en français (pour Catherine):

Joyeux Noël et Bonne Année

As many people who read this will probably already realise one of the most popular English language Christmas songs ever is 'White Christmas', particularly the original version by Bing Crosby. It was written by Irving Berlin. The song first became popular during the Second World War when it featured in the Hollywood film 'Holiday Inn'. The post-war fictional musical film 'White Christmas', loosely based around the song, also has a connection to WW2, drawing in the sentiments and comradeship of former WW2 American soldiers.
