The Battle of Battle of Britain pilot seen in the above photograph stood next to the RAF Millom Museum exhibition throughout the 2010 Whitehaven Festival. This was situated on the Sugar Tongue at Whitehaven harbour. Strange to say this pilot never moved all weekend!

Part of the RAF Millom Museum exhibition at the Festival included a ‘Battle of Britain Experience’ inside a portable caravan. Visitors to the exhibition were able to watch a simulation of a dogfight between a Messrschmidt and a Spitfire as may have taken place over the skies of southern England during the ‘Spitfire summer’ of 1940.

The cockpits have controls in them and are linked to each other so you can fly and fight each other in them.

Have a look in the news section of the raf millom website. There are videos in the facebook section.
