Some of the crew on HMS Malaya

No indication on pics where this was but most likely
Malta or South Africa.

Thought I'd let our younger people see that there was still some fun to be had even in wartime.

Hi,

I'm desperate to find photos of the ship's company of HMS Malaya and any which might contain my late father Kenneth Alexander Smith, a Petty Officer Torpedoman.

Many thanks,

Ken Smith

Hell Elaine,

Perhaps you could also try the local newspapers in your area from WW2. One of my uncles married a South Norwood girl in February 1945 and the newspaper edition the family have of that event has other service men and women's photos in.

A couple of years ago I met the then Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Croydon at the Arnhem commemorations in the Netherlands. I think Croydon is twinned with Arnhem. I gather they have some fairly good records about WW2, but probably more on the V1 and V2 bombings than seamen. Perhaps the Croydon Council archives may also be keen to assist you if you try there.
